DISTRICT UPDATE  - March 28, 2025

Dear Millburn Staff and Families,

Monday’s Presentations

The proposed organizational enhancements were presented at Monday’s Board of Education meeting, and the Board approved the revised Organizational Chart for the 2025-2026 school year. The presentation shared at the meeting is now available on the website, as is the meeting recording. If you have questions or would like to share feedback, please submit this Feedback Form.

You can find the High School Assessment and Grading presentation here.

Update on Principal Searches

Elementary Principals: We have completed the screening process of 87 applicants for the elementary principal searches. On Wednesday, a panel of 2-3 teachers from Glenwood, Hartshorn, and Deerfield participated in a panel to interview the internal candidates who applied for the elementary principal position. On Friday, administrators interviewed external candidates who had been narrowed down through our paper screening process of the 87 applicants. On April 1st, the committee will interview the top 3 internal and top 3 -4 external candidates. As Mr. Wolfe, Principal of South Mountain, announced his next steps yesterday, we will include South Mountain staff in this process. We have interviewed many internal and external candidates who are highly qualified, caring, and enthusiastic educational leaders looking for career advancement and opportunities in Millburn. After we hold these interviews on Tuesday, should there be an extended need to interview candidates further to find the best candidates for our schools, we will do that.

Middle School Principal: To maintain consistency with the Middle School's leadership, Dr. Sack will continue as the interim principal for the remainder of the school year and next year. We will open the search again for a permanent principal during the next school year.

High School Principal and Vice-Principal: We have posted the positions for the High School Principal and Vice-Principal. We have received many applicants and look forward to beginning the interview process as soon as possible. The process will include meeting with staff, students, and community members to learn what they would like to see in Millburn High School's next leaders.

Supervisors:

Elementary Supervisors: We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Jennifer Doney has accepted the grade K-5 Language Arts/Library Media position. We are excited for Jenn as she takes on the role of supporting teachers and students across the district in all of our elementary schools. We have posted the Supervisor for Math/Science (STEM) K-5 and look forward to receiving applicants.

Supervisors 6-12:

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Robert Starita has accepted the promotion to be our 6-12 supervisor of Mathematics. His knowledge and expertise will complement the bridge from Middle School Math to  High School Math.

Business Administrator:

On Monday, March 24th, the Board of Education approved Mr. Peter Starrs as our interim Business Administrator. Mr. Starrs comes to us from the Bridgewater Township Public Schools and has years of experience in budgeting, finance, and overseeing building and grounds projects. Good News!!

🌟 Millburn Custodian is a Finalist for Custodian of the Year!

Yesterday, Deerfield Head Custodian, Dan Davis, was surprised by Deerfield Principal Kelly Salazar at an assembly to learn that he is a finalist in the Custodian of the Year contest sponsored by Cintas Corporation.  This is the 12th year that Cintas has held a contest to honor exceptional school custodians.  Representatives from Cintas were there to present Mr. Davis with a prize basket, and thanked the Deerfield School for the many testimonial nominations from the Deerfield community. Dan is one of 10 finalists from around the country this year, and the only one from New Jersey!

Voting will begin next week to narrow that number down to the top three.

As soon as we get the link, we will share it out and ask all parents, staff and students in the district to vote daily to get Millburn’s own Mr. Dan to the top prize, (including $10,000 and a trip to Las Vegas).
