Hartshorn School Principal Update

As many of you know, Mr. Ken Frattini has accepted a new position as superintendent/principal in Boonton Township. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and hard work during his many years in Millburn. His significant impact on our school community and his contributions will be remembered with great fondness.

I have recommended to the Board of Education that, due to the time and the importance of a thorough search for a permanent principal, we put an interim principal in place for the 2024-2025 school year. A search committee for a permanent principal will commence in the spring, including teachers, administrators, and parents.

I thank Mrs. Brooks and Mr. Frattini for participating in the selection process. I am pleased to introduce Mrs. Debra Ostrowski, who will be board-approved at the meeting on Monday, August 19th, and officially start on August 20th. Mrs. Ostrowski comes to us with a wealth of experience as an educational leader and principal, having served as a teacher, administrator, and principal within public schools for over three decades. She retired in 2018 from Livingston School District as an elementary principal and recently served as a principal of a private high school in Morris County. Her guiding principles for success throughout her tenured career have been rooted in decisions based on what is best for student growth, reflection, and well-being. Her extensive experience and commitment to student well-being make her an excellent fit for our school. I am optimistic about the future under her leadership and look forward to Hartshorn's continued success with her at the helm.

Meet and greet dates for staff, students, parents, and community members are being planned.

Technology Update - New Visitor Registration System

When you enter our school buildings this year, please note that a new system will be in place for school visitors. Visitor Aware uses your driver's license or state-issued ID when entering the building.  Please make sure to have a valid, non-expired government-issued identification card with a photo to check in when you enter one of the buildings for the first time this school year.

Once you have registered with your ID at any one of the school buildings, facial recognition will be used to confirm your identity every time after that.
